2024 Labor Day Car Show
The Southport Lions Club Labor Day Car Show was held on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at Waterfront Park and throughout our beautiful downtown area. It was a wonderful day of sunshine, music, great cars, trucks, and motorcycles. The Southport Lions Club would like to thank the City of Southport Mayor Rich Alt, Police Chief Todd Coring, Fire Chief Charles Drew and the Fire Department Honor Guard and the citizens of Southport for helping to make our Labor Day Car Show and fundraiser a great success.
Southport Lions Foundation would also like to express gratitude to the State Port Pilot for their continuous support. Special thanks goes to Beth Jones for taking photographs for the Car Show Gallery. And lastly, we extend congratulations and appreciation to the 20 Specialty Award, the Top 35 trophy winners, and our fantastic corporate sponsors.

Community Flag Project
The display of the American Flag throughout Southport provides a sense of pride and patriotism. These displays leave a lasting and positive impression — on adults, young people, and the community at large (including visitors). Over 120 flag sites are sponsored by private businesses, local merchants, and individual Lions members. In past years, the project has raised over $2,800 — helping to support local charitable causes and vision programs. Flags will be displayed on the following holidays and special observances.

Meetings & Speakers
Format
Luncheon Meeting
Dates
1st and 3rd Thursday (each month)
Time
11:45 am – 1:00 pm
Visitors are always welcome.
The Southport Lions Board of Directors also meets privately, once-monthly, on the first Thursday of every month at 10:00 am (prior to the regular member’s luncheon meeting).
Two of our meeting days are reserved for an annual Officers Installation Ceremony and a Christmas Dinner. Various social events are also scheduled throughout the year.
Guest Speaker
We strive to have a speaker at every luncheon meeting. This is truly an important part of our overall program. Speakers usually give a 20‑minute presentation followed by a short Q&A session. Topics can range from local government matters and town events — to leisure activities, entertainment, or even sports. However, most of our speakers talk about what their organization does for our Community.
If you are an administrator of a local charitable organization or would like to speak to the Lions Club on a matter of local interest, we would greatly value your viewpoints at one of our meetings. Being a guest speaker can be an excellent way to promote your mission — while seeking financial or friendly support from our Club and its Members. Guest speakers dine at no cost.
