Southport Lions Club Boat Raffle returns on July 4, 2025, offering an impressive watercraft as our grand prize, the 2025 Carolina Skiff 19 LS, including Suzuki motor and Wesco trailer. Second place prize is a one-year membership to Freedom Boat Club and the third place prize (new this season) is $500 cash.
The boat raffle has been a Southport tradition for over 40 years. It is the primary fundraiser for the Southport Lions Foundation to help maintain its programs — providing assistance to charities, organizations and individuals in need. This event has evolved into one of Southport’s most anticipated activities. Only 10,000 tickets will be sold!

Southport Lions
80th Anniversary Family Day
and Car Show 2025

Southport Lions 2025 Car Show was held on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at Waterfront Park and throughout our beautiful downtown area. It was a great day of family fun, laughter, fellowship, good food, music, great cars, trucks, and motorcycles. The Club would like to thank the City of Southport; including Mayor Rich Alt, Police Chief Todd Coring, and the citizens of Southport; for coming out and helping celebrate our 80-year anniversary as an organization.
Looking forward to the next eighty years of service to the community and beyond!
We offer special gratitude to Fire Chief Charles Drew and the Southport Fire Department. During the day the Fire Department cooked for us and provided the community with 480 hamburgers and 320 hot dogs (at 1980 prices), of which, we only asked for donations.
We extend an additional thank you to the State Port Pilot for their continuous support. And to kick off our initial Car Club Challenge, the winning club was the Cape Fear Cruisers.

Community Flag Project
The display of the American Flag throughout Southport provides a sense of pride and patriotism. These displays leave a lasting and positive impression — on adults, young people, and the community at large (including visitors). Over 120 flag sites are sponsored by private businesses, local merchants, and individual Lions members. In past years, the project has raised over $2,800 — helping to support local charitable causes and vision programs. Flags will be displayed on the following holidays and special observances.

Meetings & Speakers
Format
Luncheon Meeting
Dates
1st and 3rd Thursday (each month)
Time
11:45 am – 1:00 pm
Visitors are always welcome.
The Southport Lions Board of Directors also meets privately, once-monthly, on the first Thursday of every month at 10:00 am (prior to the regular member’s luncheon meeting).
Two of our meeting days are reserved for an annual Officers Installation Ceremony and a Christmas Dinner. Various social events are also scheduled throughout the year.
Guest Speaker
We strive to have a speaker at every luncheon meeting. This is truly an important part of our overall program. Speakers usually give a 20‑minute presentation followed by a short Q&A session. Topics can range from local political matters and community events — to leisure activities, entertainment, and even sports. Many of our speakers discuss the merits of their charitable organization. Guest speakers dine at no cost.
If you are an administrator of such an organization or would like to speak to the Lions Club on a matter of local interest, we would greatly value your viewpoints at one of our meetings. Being a guest speaker can be an excellent way to promote your mission — while seeking financial or friendly support from our Club and its Members.
