Flag Lowering Ceremony
The Flag Lowering Ceremony at Waterfront Park with honors by Southport’s Fire & Police Departments. The ceremony is held every night at 7.30 and is one of the events that makes Southport so special.
Flag Lowering is when the Lions slowly lower the American Flag and fold it while taps is being played. We are scheduled for a one-week time frame as noted. We first say the Pledge of Allegiance then lower the flag to taps. It is a community event, quite patriotic. Starts Memorial Day goes to Labor Day. We have one week. Requires a minimum of three Lions but four is better.
